Playing Field is there for you to use. It is located at West Wold,
off West Leys road and is open each day until dusk. The car park
at the playing fields is often full, especially at the weekend.
A lot of people with young children come, many from nearby villages.
Facilities include:Young children’s
play area, ramps and mounds,Sports field with football pitches, cricket
pitch, & 2 cricket nets, rugby posts,BMX track,Fenced Multi-Use
Games area which can be hired for netball etc.
Our pavilion has four changing rooms,
toilet facilities (one for the disabled), a referee’s room,
showers, a kitchen and social area that opens onto a west-facing
patio. The pavilion is often open at weekends and holidays selling
sweets, drinks, ice creams, hot and also has a licenced bar area
for members or guests. Teas are able to be provided for cricket
matches with notice.
note for health reasons NO DOGS are
allowed on the playing field (except service dogs).
Please support your local playing
field. Discos, race nights, quiz and supper evenings are often arranged
to raise funds as well as the annual Gala. The playing fields are
NOT run by the council. The council fund the lease and maintenance
of the site, but development costs are covered by the fund-raising
activities of the playing field committee.
All the play equipment in the playground
area was provided through fundraising. It has cost tens of thousands
of pounds. The committee also takes care of the day to day running
of the facilities. A small band of unpaid volunteers work to raise
funds and run the facility and are always on the lookout for new
helpers. Many hands make light work –you could help us by
organising fund raising and sports activities, or just by painting,
digging or weeding.
We are hosting a
Sport relief mile again this year on Sunday 23rd March.
Details and registration
For children (boys and girls of primary school age) who want to
give cricket a go Zingari offer fun coaching sessions at the fields
on a Friday evening 6-8pm from 2nd May. Just come along and enjoy
the early evening sun with a BBQ and a drink from the café/
Following our annual safety inspection we are investing in tidying,
fixing up or replacing some of the park equipment. This of course
costs a considerable amount of money so our fundraising efforts
are especially important as is help from our precious volunteers.
We need to recruit more help in the kitchen/ shop. Are you age 18
plus and can spare an occasional hour on a weekend or during school
holidays? If so please email firstname.lastname@example.org or leave your
details in the playing fields shop. Help with ground maintenance
A future date for your diaries is the Annual Playing Fields Gala
on Sunday 13th July. Ideas of events/ activities or offers of help
again to email below please.
