Annual General Meeting

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month in Christ Church Hall starting at 7.30 p.m. In addition to our monthly meetings the Swanland Branch has activities such as a monthly walk, summer and harvest suppers and outings.

Members can also participate in events and outings organised by the Federation, meeting members and friends from other Institutes.

Visitors and new members are always welcome. Swanland WI belongs to the East Yorkshire Federation of Women's Institutes whose office is at 2(b) Railway Street, Beverley tel 860 626.

In 2009 Swanland WI will celebrate its 60th anniversary. The first meeting was held in April 1949 when 53 members attended. At this time Swanland was a small village with very little development. However in the 1960's when the village began to grow, the membership rose to over 100. Over the past few years membership has fallen. This may be due to the greater mobility of those who live here, making the attractions outside the village which were previously difficult to get to much easier.
